Individual and luxuriously appointed suites are spread across dunes crests overlooking sweeping plains and the Hajar Mountain massif; the main reception area is the social centre of the resort, with abundant, cool and traditional spaces in which to soak in the casual ambience of the resorts' historic backdrop. Whether retiring to the library to read one of the many books on the region, its art and its culture, or catching up catch up on the news of the outside world from the media centre, a quiet drink on one of the broad terraces, there is a wealth of options to be enjoyed in informal yet elegant surroundings.

Heavy wooden doors open from the lounge into the library, warm wood tones and handsome furnishings, the cushioned wing-back chairs invite you to sit for an hour or longer with a good book or from the generous selection of local and international newspapers and publications. Original artworks and paintings create the perfect ambience for reading or playing a quiet game of chess.

The cool, bright hotel lounge is the meeting point for guests prior to meals, or before setting off for activities. Elegantly arranged with rustic tables and chairs, it is the perfect place to sit and observe the life of the resort. Antiques, artifacts and some of the finest artwork created in the region line the lofty halls. Decorated in rich, warm colours, natural stone and woven traditional rugs this cool interior is the social centre, to be enjoyed as much, or as little as you wish.

The resort's cosy bar area, showcasing traditional mashrebelia, the intricately carved window shutters overlooking the courtyard, is adorned with ancient Omani woodwork and furnished with solid, comfortable chairs. Doors open out onto a high sandstone verandah, which commands spectacular views across the desert.

Serving an extensive and exotic selection of cocktails, wines from our cellars and spirits as well as juices, mineral waters, afternoon teas and coffee, the bar is the meeting point for pre-dinner drinks, and a location from which leisurely post-lunch relaxation is recommended.

On arrival, you are received into the Majlis, a traditional Arabic seating area for the gathering of friends and guests, as well as a place where business affairs have long been discussed. Both comfortable and private, our Majlis areas, traditionally divided into ladies and men's areas, are today modernized and open, beautifully decorated with fine antiques and art, which sets the mood for leisurely conversation at any time of the day.
