"Each Field Guide undergoes intensive training - the learning of the local environment, ecology, the wildlife and Bedouin lore, followed by a period of skills training, including health and safety practices, first aid, off-road driving and guest relations practices."

Wildlife Drives

Our Field Guides will take you out in the afternoon in one of the resort's luxury four-wheel drives, along sandy tracks that wind through the dunes and 'streets', (the valleys between dunes). These tracks are GPS marked, so that even after a sandstorm they can be retraced and used again, limiting damage to delicate vegetation, ensuring the landscape is free of unnecessary interference.

A gentle drive (about an hour and a half) through the terrain is a great way to cover the distances needed to find the free-roaming wildlife herds. You can opt to head for one of

the feeding areas - where the Oryx and Gazelle have access to supplement feed to keep them in good condition - or as is more common, come upon them in the dunes or picking them out, where they are well camouflaged amongst trees and shrubs.

Your guide will stop for photo opportunities, pointing out animals and tracks, or focusing on specific interests you may have, as well as pointing out some of the many bird species or lucky encounters with rarer inhabitants.
